My new love

I've been watching American Pickers lately.  Love the show.  In fact I have it on right now.  It's been playing all day.  I think what they do is kinda fun.  I like seeing some of the cool stuff they find.  In fact I think I'd have a field day trying to photograph some of that old, rusty, cool looking stuff.

And.......I'm liking this guy

Mike Wolfe

He rocks.

That's all.  Just thought I'd share.

Happy 40th Birthday Sesame Street!!

Reason #123,456 that turning 40 makes me feel old.......I'm as old as Sesame Street!

Well, technically a week younger but what's 7 days when you're this old! LOL

I grew up with that show. I was just searching youtube for some classic episode clips. It's amazing how you can still sing along with some of those songs like it was just yesterday!

Here's a clip that looks like it features most of the original humans........including the one and only Mr. Hooper!

So random

New fall TV shows are starting to pop up! I love me some TV :) The new season of Ellen started yesterday and I made a list of all the other shows I watch and looked up the start dates for the new season. I need help. There is at least one new show that I was thinking of starting up this season but I already watch too many to keep up with sometimes that I'm thinking I should hold off. Except what usually happens is it turns out to be a big hit and I missed out and have to catch up later through Netflix which is what I'm doing with two shows already!

I went to Walgreens yesterday and found me some New Moon Candy! Way better than the Twilight candy cuz it's CHOCOLATE! In fact I think I'll grab me a piece right now.

Mmmm. Yumm. I'm back.....

I'm getting tickets to see Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood do their "Whose Line Is It Anyway" show in Milwaukee again in January! This will be our 3rd year in a row. Go ahead call me psycho but hubby and I love them! They are so hilarious! And the great part is since it's improv it's always different.

So today I was trying to catch up on reading some of the many blogs I follow. (Didn't get very far) I was reading some of the recent past posts on Angie's blog when I came across some where she mentioned Wreck This Journal by Keri-Smith. She's doing a weekly post showing what she did in her journal. I had to find a copy of this book. It looks like fun! So today while I was out I stopped at Barnes and Noble and got a copy......and talked my mom into it too! I hope to get started soon and join in on Wednesday's when she does her weekly post. I'm looking forward to it but on the other hand I'm so not a destroyer of books it may just crush me!

Still "Live and Kickin'" at 60

Today is Rick Springfield's birthday. His 60th. Wow! I can't believe he's going to be 60 and personally I think he still looks HOT! I can't believe I've been a fan for 28 years! Since 1981 with Jessie's Girl and then General Hospital.

Here are a few photos I took about a week ago when we saw him at the Wisconsin State Fair.

This fall he is guest starring on David Duchovny's show "Californication" on Showtime playing a "twisted version" of himself. I am really looking forward to seeing that. It should be fun. I've started watching the first season of the show to see what it's like. Probably not something I would have normally watched on my own. It's quite dirty......but what can you expect with the word fornication right in the title! lol
Here's a clip of one of the promos. Be careful who you watch this in front of........though this is probably the "clean" version!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK!!!

My must see TV list

I've mentioned before that I watch a lot of tv. So since the new television season is upon us I thought I'd share with you a list of the shows I have to watch. These are the ones I make a point of watching regularly when there are new episodes. There are plenty others that I'm willing to watch but don't make a point of seeing them every week or Tivo-ing them.

In no particular order:

Army Wives: Love it! One of the best shows on tv I think. Not to mention the hotness that is Drew Fuller.

Psych: Funny show. Love the interaction between Sean and Gus. Gus really cracks me up sometimes. Pineapple anyone?

Monk: My favorite obsessive compulsive detective. I have a few things that I'm a little obsessive about at home so hubby call me "monk" sometimes.

Lost: I am so Lost when it comes to this show sometimes. I don't know what the hell is going on but still love it. It keeps you coming back for more hoping to finally be given some answers. But then you get one question answered and you have five more! Josh Holloway...........Matthew Fox.........need I say more?

Ellen Degeneres Show: She is so funny. Mom and I watch her every night while having dinner. Even when there is a guest on that you don't know or isn't a fave it's still fun to watch because she makes it interesting.

Survivor: Have loved it from the very beginning. We've watched every season as a family.

Amazing Race: Another "reality" show I've watched since it started. Some of those couples are so dysfunctional! Hubby and I always joke about us doing it together. I would get us so totally lost!

My Name is Earl: Hubby is the one that started watching and it took me a season or so to catch on. But now we have to watch it together every week.

The Office: Jim and Pam forever!!! Don't we all have those unusual people we work with? There seems to be an over abundance of them in this office though, which is what makes it so funny. I love John Krasinski!

Friday Night Lights: I am so glad my mom finally talked me into watching this. I missed the first season but put it on Netflix and was able to watch them all over the summer in time to catch the second season. It's such a good show, but has low ratings. We almost lost it. So glad DirecTv picked it up. Hope it doesn't change and they are able to keep it going. It's not all about football. It's about life. And it has another of my favorite hotties.... Taylor Kitsch!

Lipstick Jungle: Just a fun, kind of guilty pleasure show I started watching last year. Mmm. This one's got Robert Buckley! Ok, do guys see a pattern here? LOL NO, hot guys is not my only criteria for liking a show. But it doesn't hurt!

The two new ones I am planning to add to my list this year.............

The Mentalist: Looks like it's kind of the serious version of Psych. A guy with a keen observation skills helping the police to solve crimes.

My Own Worst Enemy: Christian Slater. This one was hyped up and advertised a lot during the Olympics. I hope it's that good. It kind of made me think of that movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger (True Lies) where his wife didn't know he was a spy.

TAXI!!!

I totally want to take a ride in the CA$H CAB !!!

It looks like such a fun game show. Especially if you are with a group of friends or something.

I told hubby I want to take a trip to New York. While there we can take some time hailing cabs in the city! If the driver's not Ben we could just move on. No matter that there is only like a zillion cabs in the city of New York!

Tiger was asking tonight if kids were allowed to ride and if we would share the winnings with her. That all depends on if you help with answering the questions or if you just sit there grinning cuz you're in the CA$H CAB!!

TAXI!!!

I love TV

Two of my favorite shows are back tonight with new episodes!
Psych and Monk!
I'll have something to do tonight!
Unlike last night, where I was bored out of my skull. Ever have one of those days where you just didn't wanna do anything?
I have those quite often :)~

What some people will do for money!

Has anyone watched that new game show Wipeout? My mom and I decided to check it out last night because her golfing buddies said it was hilarious.

It is!

At first I felt bad for laughing at people getting hurt. But then on second thought I realized these people signed up for this. They chose to go on this show and do these ridiculous stunts on national TV for millions of people to watch. What kind of people do this?

I've always thought it would be fun to be on a game show. But some kind of trivia game or something. Not a game where I have to humiliate myself for a chance at the prize money.

Today I have more fun stuff to look forward to. I'm headed out to my gyno visit in about an hour. Fun times!

Oh please, not Trevor!!

Yes, I'm talking about Army Wives again. I just love that show! This may just become a weekly post. Right now with the summer Tv schedule, it's about the only show I watch regularly. Well, besides GH (looking forward to Noah/Eli's return) and The Mole.

They've been showing previews of Roxy getting a phone call. You can tell it's bad news but not what it was about. The previews for next week show Trevor in combat and it looks like he gets shot! Please, no, don't kill Trevor. Please.

He is my favorite!

I'm in Love

I finally got to watch the season premier of Army Wives last night. This show rocks! I don't think I could handle what so many military wives must go through on a daily basis. Being away from your husband for months at a time, not knowing where he is, if he's even alive, basically raising your kids alone. The season premiere was a real tear jerker. Totally unexpected and very sad ending. I'm really looking forward to a great season.

So all during the 1st season I really was liking the character of Trevor LeBlanc played by Drew Fuller. But it wasn't until yesterday that I found this picture online.....

............that I knew for sure that I was in love!!! Look at those eyes! And that mouth! Sure he's 10 years younger than me. Who cares! Age is just a number, right?

Darn Storms

One of my favorite shows, Army Wives, is back tonight for the second season and I can't watch. The darn thunderstorms are interfering with our satellite! Argh! It repeats a bunch of times overnight and tomorrow so I'm hoping I can still catch it.

It's been raining like crazy here the past few days and I've had enough now. Ok? There's been some flooding in parts of the state but luckily no problems by us.

Two more days of school. I'm looking forward to not having to get up at 5:30 every morning and a break from homework! We're hoping to get the pool set up next weekend so the kids will have something to keep them busy. They get bored so quickly!

Time to get some shut eye!

What's on the boob tube?

Let's go with some of the shows I watched as a kid. Most of these are what I remember just off the top of my head. Obviously there were probably more but these are the ones that stick out and I remember as some of the faves.

  • Family Affair ( I still have my original Mrs. Beasley doll, but she is in rough shape)
  • The Monkees (I wasn't around when these originally aired, I watched in repeats)
  • The Brady Bunch
  • Banana Splits
  • Zoom
  • The Dukes of Hazzard (Friday night = pizza and the Dukes)
  • The Love Boat
  • Fantasy Island
  • Different Strokes
  • CHiPS
  • Donny and Marie

Ok, went to wikipedia and found some more (how could have forgotten some of these?):

  • Chico and the Man
  • Battle of the Network Stars
  • Captain Kangaroo
  • Dance Fever
  • The Electric Company
  • The Gong Show
  • Good Times
  • Happy Days
  • Little House on the Prairie
  • Laverne and Shirley
  • Mork and Mindy
  • The Muppet Show
  • One Day at a Time
  • Romper Room
  • The Partridge Family
  • Sha Na Na
  • Three's Company

I've always watched a lot of TV. LOL There are so many more I saw listed that I remember my parents or grandparents watching too. Brings back memories.

For the love of Tim Riggins

WooHoo! My favorite tv bad boy is back tonight with the rest of the Dillon Panthers with a new episode of Friday Night Lights. From the looks of the previews and some spoilers I read the next couple of episodes will be featuring quite a bit of #33. Gotta love Tim Riggins!
And for those of you not watching FNL and who don't have a clue who Tim Riggins is, I have one question. Why the hell not?? LOL

Mr. Sandman....

Bring me a dream
Ahhh! I've had that song stuck in my head since last night. I was watching some first season episodes of Friday Night Lights and there was a sweet scene where one of the guys was singing that to his grandma and I can't get it out of my head now! BTW, I am loving FNL. I'm sending the second DVD back today and the next one can't come soon enough. Imagine that, my mom was right about something.

I've got the second season episodes being recorded and waiting on my tivo. I've seen a couple preview scenes on commercials and it looks good, though I'm trying not to pay attention to them because I'm not there yet.

Just heard hubby come in, better move, we're going pumpkin hunting today!

Aaaay! It's the Fonz

Hmm, they are planning to put a statue of the Fonz in downtown Milwaukee. Check out the article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I used to love "Happy Days" and who is cooler than the Fonz, right?? But a statue?

Addicted to Netflix

I've only got 60 titles on my Netflix cue. What do you think? A little excessive? lol Actually, many of them are TV series with multiple discs per season.

I just started watching the first season of Friday Night Lights. My mom has been raving about how good the show is. I never started watching last year because I had something else going that night I think. So since the first season is on DVD and the second doesn't start until Oct 5, I thought I'd add it to my list.

Netflix is great though. Choose your movies or tv shows and they come in the mail within a couple days. You can keep them as long as you want, then just stick them back in the envelope and send them back. Before you know it you're next one is here. The turn around time is super quick. Usually when we return a movie, it gets there the next day, another is sent out the same day and we get it on the third day. Not too shabby. Beats taking the time to go to the rental store and not being able to find anything because of limited selection or all the good stuff is out.

Survivor: China

One of my favorites is back.....for the 15th season! Wow, I can't believe I've been watching it for that long. Well, for the past 7 years anyway, since they do two seasons per year. It's always fun "getting to know" a new set of castaways. I always joke with my hubby that one of us should do the show. Though I KNOW I never could! The kids and I watched tonight, they love the show. We always look forward to watching it together. We're ready for another interesting season. One team already seems to be standing out as the "stronger" of the two....but we'll see.

Uninvited guests and Ellen D

Ants are invading our home! Ewww! We noticed a bunch by the front door the other day so we cleaned it up good and vacuumed the area and sprayed along the whole entrance. We kept and eye on it for a few days and thought we were good. Until tonight. I came upstairs from the basement and into the kitchen and there were dozens of them swarming some cracker crumbs one of my kids graciously left on the floor for them. Who do they think they are coming in uninvited?
Oh, and the mosquitoes are joining us lately too. Not too happy about that.

But I am excited that Ellen's back! She started her season yesterday from New York. This is one of my favorite shows, one of the [too] many I've been looking forward to coming back this season. If you're not watching her, you should be. She is hilarious! I've been flipping through the fall preview TV guide trying to decide if there are any new shows I'm interested in. Not that I need another show to keep track of!

Army Wives

The army has its code.......the wives have their own.

I'm really enjoying this new series on Lifetime about living life as an army spouse. I'm just a tad behind in watching it though. I think the season finale is this Sunday but I still have like 6 episodes waiting for me on my tivo! I sneak them in when I can. I don't think I've made it through one episode yet without shedding a tear to two.

I have to give those in the military and their spouses credit. It's not an easy life. I don't think I could handle all that comes with it. My husband was in the reserves for a few years and I didn't like when he was gone for his two weeks each year. Desert Storm was going on right before we got married and there was some talk of his unit possibly being called up for that and I freaked!
