Out with the old

And in with the new!

Our new fridge was delivered today! Isn't it pur-ty? I don't really want to put any of the magnets back on but my kids are dying to.
It's huge and sooo quiet! The old one sounded like a jet taking off in our kitchen. You couldn't hear the TV when it started running. It kinda didn't fit in the spot. Hubby says it's a tad bigger than the dimensions listed so he actually had to shift part of the cabinet over.

How boring is my life that I'm blogging about my new fridge!?!

Did you hear what I just thought?

So lately, as you know I've been into reading the Twilight books. For anyone who may not have read them they're basically a vampire/human love story. Edward, the main vampire character can read minds. I've also since heard about the Sookie Stackhouse series of books by Charlaine Harris. Also a vampire story. According to the back of the first book she "keeps to herself, and doesn't get out much. Not because she's not pretty.........she can read minds." I haven't started reading it yet but plan to soon.

I never really gave much thought to being able to read minds in the past. But now all these mind reading characters are popping up. Which got me thinking and weirded out!

So the other day I'm at work and a really good looking guy comes up to the counter and my first thought is....."Wow, he's cute" ......or something along those lines. Then immediately after that I thought........."OMG!!! What if he can read minds?"

I tried really hard to think of something else and got totally embarrassed. I could feel my face turning bright red! I started getting all flustered. All this for what? I was the only one who knew what was going on in my head.......or was I?

Now I can't get the idea out of my head. Is that even possible? Are there people out there that can read minds? Who are they?

I mean, I think it may be kind of cool. If you were the one doing the mind reading that is. I wouldn't like someone being able to know what's going on in my mind all the time! Heck, I don't even like what goes on in my mind most of the time!
I'm not making any sense here am I? Better stop while I'm ahead.

But for those of you who can't read minds, what an intriguing look into what is my mind hey? Scary huh?

This was taken over the weekend while visiting my brother. It was such a nice day out and we all went to a local state park to walk around and climb up the observation tower.

I Survived....

Friday night, 3rd shift, 4 hours in a police car with my brother!

You'd think based on that statement that it was a rough night. Not so much. I was unsure about going on the ride along. I had considered it in the past but the opportunity never came up until last week. Then I got worried. Wondering what would happen. I've watched an episode or two of Cops. Would I enjoy it, would something really bad or freaky happen, would I be scared? And not just because it's a police ride along, but also because it's with my brother. He likes to be mean to his big sister!

Like when we first start heading out....the first thing he says to me...."Now on the off chance that I get shot and can't speak into my radio, then pick this up, push the button. Tell them my badge number and when they say 'go ahead' then just say whatever and tell them what happened." Um, OK. Like I'd have the capacity to do that if my brother got freaking shot!!

So what was the highlight of my night? Let's see...
There was the old lady in curlers walking down the street holding a golf club. For protection we assumed.

There were the multiple times he sped and zig zagged through traffic to see a license plate so he could run it because something caught his eye.

There was the guy he pulled over for having a taillight out. Yeah, just something to do so he could show me he knew how to do his job.

There were the the teenagers in two "suspicious" cars parked in a grocery store parking lot that he checked out. Nothing came of that. They were supposedly waiting for a ride for one of the kids.

There was the dispatcher that didn't know what the heck she was doing. He kept making fun of her the entire night. She accidentally sounded the ambulance alert and then got on the radio and was like "sorry, hit the button by mistake"

There was a call about neighbors playing loud music and one of their cars parked on someone else's property. Only two of the guys would come out of the house, they told them to move the car and that was it.

There were the two bar checks he went on. Random checks to see if the bartender had a license and if there were any underage drinkers. All clean.

There was call he backed up another officer checking out a suspect seen leaving a local business where the window was broken as if a rock had been thrown through it. Didn't seem like the guy, we drove off, guy took his hands out of his pockets, one was dripping in blood. Yup, it was him. He punched his hand trough the window. Real smart.

The rest of the night was spent driving in circles or squares as he preferred to call them, around the city. I was getting dizzy passing the same places over and over. We saw some deer in a couple different spots. He had fun scaring them off with his spotlight.

We did take about 15-20 minutes to tour the jail. His girlfriend works 3rd shift also at the jail and she offered to show me around. I can't imagine being locked up in a place like that! The place holds about 300. Mostly people waiting for their trials to come up, some of them even prolonging their trials........do they like it there? Then of course the drunk tank where they bring them to "sleep it off".
She did say during the winter that homeless people will purposely do something to get arrested so they can get inside where it's warm. Pretty sad.

And that was about it. Exciting stuff hey?

I guess it's not always an episode of Cops!

Back home

We're back from our trip........well, we've been back since Saturday night. Had a really nice time. We drove up through Port Washington, Sheboygan, Manitowoc and the Green Bay area. We stopped at 7 lighthouses in the first 2 days of the trip, spent the first 2 nights at a water park hotel and visited a zoo in Green Bay.

We then drove to my brother's house and spent 2 nights there. I did finally decide to go the the ride along I talked about and will post separately about that.

Took lots of pics, still need to upload some from the last couple days of our trip to the computer and go through them all. I will start posting some as soon as I do on my photo blog.

Was shocked back to reality Sunday morning when I got a call at 7:30 am and ended up having to cut my "vacation" short and head in to work! Blah!

Forever In Blue Jeans

We are out of town right now but I really wanted to get at least this post done! I am determined to complete all 52 weeks! Sometimes I feel like these are the only posts I'm doing lately though, I've been so busy! You all are gonna get sick of just seeing photos of me :) I also feel so bad about not visiting other blogs regularly. I have so many that I follow that I haven't been able to keep up with lately but I'll be back. Eventually.

This photo of us goofing around was taken yesterday at one of the many lighthouses we've been visiting the past couple days. Tiger was pretending like she didn't want her photo taken. Nice try. She is the biggest ham when it comes to me taking her picture!

It looks like it was a nice day doesn't it? Well, it was but it was FREEZING and WINDY out there on the breakwater!

Be sure to visit Carin at Forever in Blue Jeans to join in and to see all the other moms getting in the photos!

The day after

Hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend! As usual ours was pretty quiet and uneventful since the majority of our family is out of the state.

The kids have off of school this coming week for Spring Break so we are planning some time at an indoor water park hotel and then heading to visit my brother for a few days. I still haven't decided for sure if I'm doing the ride along. But if I do you'll hear all about it when I'm done!

I'll be taking my laptop so hopefully I'll have some time to catch up on all my blog reading. I'm so far behind because of the extra hours I've been working. Most everyone is back from all their vacations so I should be back to normal after our trip....but we shall see!

We are also planning a few stops along the way at some Wisconsin lighthouses so I can take some pictures. I mentioned a few weeks back on my photo blog that there are a bunch that I want to try and visit to photograph. So keep an eye on that blog too for some pics. I'm hoping the weather will cooperate!

Forever In Blue Jeans

Running a bit behind this week because I had to work today. It's been nice the past couple days so we spent some time outside yesterday grilling brats and of course taking pictures. I had Tiger take this one of me and my mom.

Then my mom took some of me and the girls. I love the look on Tiger's face here. She's trying to figure out how to look at the camera without turning her head.

Head on over to Forever in Blue Jeans to see more mom pics or to join in the challenge!

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

I'm heading up to see my brother and niece next week during our kids spring break from school. My bro was supposed to have off work the days we are there but now he is saying he may have to work one of the nights. He's a police officer and works 3rd shift. He asked if my hubby or I wanted to go on a ride along with him if he does work.

Hubby is not interested but I'm thinking about going. My mom has done it before and she said it was kind of cool. I've got it on my "Life list" of things I want to do before I die but now that I actually have the chance I'm having second thoughts.

I'm mean what if something serious or scary goes on that I don't want to see? I know there's all kinds of crap going on out there around us but do I really wanna know about it? I could be traumatized for life!

What if he gets a call and has to speed through town to get there? I freak out enough with my hubby driving sometimes never mind being in a cop car with the siren going at top speeds!

What if there's an unexpected shoot out? Is the car bullet proof? I don't think so!

What if he gets a call that he knows is dangerous and has to let me out before heading there? It's a possibility, he's told me so. They have to drop you off somewhere to keep you out of danger. Well, that wouldn't be so bad if it was in an area I knew. And maybe daylight out! I don't know his city at all and it would be in the middle of the freaking night. You know......dark out!

And the most important of all...........what if he's on a call and I gotta pee?
Ya, only I would think of something like that!
