It's so cold in Wisconsin......

That even the bulldozers need blankets!
LOL! Not my best joke but hubby thought it was hilarious and wanted me to post it!

While doing the project 365 there are days when I feel like I'm lucky I even have a photo to post. And other days when it's hard to pick one. Yesterday I had a few to choose from and thought I'd share a couple that didn't make the "final cut".

I'm curious as to how long this building has been abandoned since there are trees growing inside the walls! Seriously, look at the height of that one!
Anyway, just some interesting sights we came across yesterday.
You can see all the daily photos on my other blog.....http://lynnsphotobooth.blogspot.com/

Snow Day!

Despite all of Skowt's best efforts we still ended up having a snow day from school today. She insisted we weren't going to have one. She didn't want the winter break to be any longer than it already was, 16 days. Because that was already too long and she thinks she'll be bored.

She set her alarm because she would be getting up for school and she refused to participate in any of the superstitions her friends told her would ensure a snow day.

For future reference, here is all you have to do when you want a snow day from school.

1. Sleep with a spoon under your pillow. (She did not specify what kind, but I'm curious. The bigger the spoon, the more snow?)

2. Flush 7 ice cubes down the toilet. (seven is the magic number I guess.)

3. Sleep with your pajamas on inside out.
and if that's not enough.....

4. Sleep with 2 different socks on, both inside out.

She wasn't sure if you had to do all of them at once but I'm guessing your chances of snow are better if you do all four!

Good luck the next time you need a day off!

You have got to be kidding me!

Today is officially the first day of spring! High temp of 41.

Most of the snow is melted.

But guess what's in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

Yup, more of the white stuff.

3-5 inches.

Give me a break!

Ice, Ice, Baby

I snapped a couple pics of the icicles forming on the SE corner of our house. This was taken Wednesday.

And just two days later on Friday (yesterday).

After this I took the shovel and knocked down as much as I could, didn't want the weight of it damaging the gutters. Who knows what is out there now though. The sun was out all day today and there was some melting going on again.

Make it Stop!

Yes, I'm talking about the snow again. I'm so glad I didn't have to work today. The kids are off of school yet again. This is their 3rd snow day. I don't remember having that many in a really long time. At this rate they'll be going to school until July.

Today's the day Rick Springfield was taping the Oprah show in Chicago. I tried to get tickets, but it's virtually impossible to get tickets to see an Oprah taping. It's probably a good thing I didn't get them because I really would have been bummed about not going because of this wicked weather. I am bummed I couldn't go as it is but it would have been worse knowing I had reservations! I hope everyone who was able to go made it there safely. From what I've seen it should be airing next Tuesday Feb 12th.

Holy White Stuff, Batman!!

Well, the kids got off of school today because they were expecting ice storms. Which I was kind of glad about, because that meant after school stuff is cancelled too so I don't have to go driving around in this crap tonight. I also got to cancel an appointment I didn't want to have to drive to either so that was nice.

We aren't getting so much ice in our area but man are we getting the snow! This is insane. It's only the 11th of December, not even winter yet and we have had so much snow we almost have nowhere to go with it. Our driveway entrance seems to be getting more narrow every time it snows. We've already been out shoveling today........TWICE and it's looking like it could use it again. Hubby said he'll get at it after work tonight. I came in this last time and my hair was soaked! I looked like I had just showered. I took a couple pics while out with the kids this morning. The pile by our front porch is almost as tall as my 8 yr. old. It's even higher now that we've been out again.

Our bare trees in the front yard.

You can see the top of the base of the lamp post in this last pic. Now those piles are at least a couple inches higher and you can't see that part at all.

And yes, for those that watched it, I now have that snoopy song from yesterday's post stuck in my head too!! Sorry.

I'm gonna be stiff tomorrow

Ugh, we had our first measurable snow fall of the season (we had just a dusting the night before Thanksgiving). Our snow blower has seen better days so time to get out the shovels. Nice wet packing snow out there, man was that $hit heavy!! My oldest and I were out there for about an hour and it barely looked like we touched it. Hubby and my other daughter finished up when they got home from running some errands. Winter is definitely not one favorite seasons!

Have a great night!

I shoulda been a bear!

Because then I could hibernate through the winter and not have to go out in the cold! It's starting, I'm constantly walking around the house in winter saying how cold it is, dressing in a million layers, wrapping up in blankets. I'm wearing socks and slippers and my feet are still cold. And winter's not even technically here yet!

I could handle 6 months of sleep too! Yup, I think I want to go into hibernation :)
