Comments

I love comments on my blog just as much as the next guy. I really do. So if you're lurking out there come out and say hi! But I admit, I probably don't comment on other's blogs as often and I should or would like to. I read many of the blogs I follow through my Google reader and don't always click on over to comment. Or most of the time I'm just so far behind I feel like the topic I'd be commenting on is old and done with. So I apologize to all those I'm following for not always being involved!

But what I don't like is all these anonymous comments I've been getting lately. It has really picked up in the past few weeks. I used to get them here and there but now it's just about daily. It drives me nuts. Many of them contain spam links but some are just random comments that make no sense and have nothing to do with the post. And they are on really old posts too. One in particular from the summer of 2008 is quite popular.

I really don't want to put the word verification or comment moderation on. For now I haven't because you can moderate on only posts that are over 14 day old, which is what I'm doing since all have them have been that old. Hopefully it won't get worse and I can stick with that.

What about everyone else? Do you have this same problem? Why the hell am I so popular all of a sudden.......and not in a good way?

Remember in school when you wanted to be popular? you are just a late bloomer. LOL. That's weird that you are getting comments on old posts. Don't know what to tell you. I did moderating for awhile when I was getting weird stuff but eventually took it off.

I had the same problem with an old post. I eventually had to go in and delete the whole post itself.

I turned on word verification recently. Hopefully I'll be able to take it off... but if I get more spam-y comments, it's going back on.

And I have the same (bad) habit of reading blogs through Google Reader, and then not clicking over to comment. Oops.
